ХОЧЕШ БУТИ ЩАСЛИВИМ – ЛЮБИ!
Зі Святійшим Патріархом Київським і всієї Руси-України ФІЛАРЕТОМ (в миру Михайло Антонович Денисенко) говоримо про сенс перебування на цій землі, особливо, якщо воно затьмарюється якимись негараздами, випробуваннями, стражданнями. Шукаємо відповіді на питання.
Частина 1.
– Ваше святосте, розмову важливо розпочати з того, що Україна, як ніколи, близька до появи власної авто- кефальної помісної церкви. Таку гучну заяву зробив 17 квітня Президент України Петро Порошенко під час зустрічі з лідерами парламентських фракцій. Знаю, що і Ви всі зусилля спрямовуєте на створення єдиної помісної церкви в Україні.
– Створення єдиної помісної української церкви означатиме об’єднання України. Сьогодні вона роз’єднана. І суспільство наше роз’єднане. А коли буде одна Українська православна церква, то будуть існувати різні політичні партії, але всі вони будуть служити інтересам України. І в цьому буде заслуга помісної незалежної Української церкви. Нічого нового ми не вносимо. Цим шляхом ішли всі церкви – і грецька, і румунська, і болгарська, і сербська. Усі без винятку. Коли утворювалась держава, утворювалась і незалежна церква. Ми терпіли довго, але ті церкви теж терпіли довго. І сама російська церква нехай згадає свою історію. Вона ж теж об’явила автокефалію в 1448 році. Без згоди Київського митрополита, хоч належала до Київської митрополії. Без згоди Вселенського патріарха Константинопольського. І 141 рік не визнавалась. Але ж потім її визнали. То нехай вона згадає свою історію і не шкодить нам. Московський патріархат буде існувати в Росії, а в нас буде український екзархат Російської церкви. Об’єднання буде мирним.
– Скільки часу потрібно, щоб мати єдину помісну українську церкву?
– Можна і зразу це зробити, а можна в довгій боротьбі. Саме зараз і йде боротьба за єдину помісну православну церкву. Чому ми хочемо мати незалежну православну церкву?
Це бажання кожного народу – мати свою незалежну церкву. Росія має свою незалежну церкву? Має. Греки мають? Мають. Болгари мають? Мають. Грузини мають? Араби мають? Серби мають? Поляки мають? Всі народи мають свої незалежні церкви. Чому ж український народ не має права? А тому, що російська церква грішить. Грішить гордістю. І хоче панувати на цій землі. Хоче мати «руській мір» над народами. І тому бореться за те, щоб Україна не мала своєї незалежної церкви. І тому йде боротьба. Але зараз уже ми бачимо, що настає час, коли Україна буде мати свою єдину українську православну церкву. Але на цій території може існувати і російська церква, тільки не називатися українською. Свобода буде для всіх, як свобідно існують римо-католики, протестанти, греко-католики, мусульмани… Українська буде одна. Визнана. І ми до цього йдемо.
– Ваше святосте, зараз в Україні складна ситуація: АТО, війна… Що треба зробити, щоб мир настав на українській землі, не гинули люди?
– Для того, щоб не було війни, треба жити в мирі. Тоді війни не буде. А для того, щоб жити в мирі, треба чинити по-справедливості, по законах, які приймають самі ж люди і народи. Для того, щоб не було ворожнечі між народами і війни, треба жити по законах міжнародних. Якщо люди і народи будуть жити по міжнародних законах, не порушуватимуть їх, тоді буде мир. Наприклад, зараз іде війна на Сході. Чому вона іде? Тому що порушений міжнародний закон. Україна віддала свою ядерну зброю. Росія, США та Велика Британія стали гарантами недоторканості української території. Гарант – Росія порушила цю домовленість, в результаті напала на Україну. І це війна. Яка причина? Порушення міжнародного закону. Порушення справедливості. Справедливість полягає в тому, що кожний народ має свою державу і живе на своїй території. А сусідня держава втручається у внутрішнє життя сусідньої держави, забирає територію. Тому йде війна. Всі все розуміють, а жити по правді не всі хочуть. Навіть ті, що хочуть, не можуть. Чому не можуть? Бо не мають сили. Ось, наприклад, заздрити не треба. Але людина не може не заздри- ти. Засуджувати не треба. А ми засуджуємо. Нема у нас сили. Потрібна божественна допомога. А коли Господь допомагає, то тоді людина і не засуджує, і не заздрить і не навидить. Тому й стає святою. Бо святі не заздрять і не засуджують.
– Шоста заповідь Божа така коротка «Не вбивай». Але у цій війні по обидва боки своя правда і кожен узяв до рук зброю…
– Правда-істина одна. Не може бути так: у вас правда одна, а в мене правда інша. Правда одна – та, яку відкрив Бог. Що робити з цим? Боротися з гріхом. Боротися з усіма недоліками. Ось, наприклад, святі: чому вони святі? Тому, що вони боролися з цим і побороли. У святих нема цього: моє – твоє. У святих: моє – це твоє, а твоє – це моє.
– Ви неодноразово зауважували, що церква молиться за те, щоб Господь дав мудрості нашим правителям, мудрості керування народом, державою…
– Молиться, щоб влада виконувала свої обов’язки. В чому полягають обов’язки влади? Захищати добро та карати зло. А якщо влада не захищає добро і не карає зло, то вона не виконує своїх обов’язків. Бо апостол Павло сказав: «Влада не даремно носить меч. Хочеш не боятися влади – роби добро і не будеш боятися, що вона носить меч». Але дуже часто влада меч цей не використовує на захист добра і на покарання зла. Ще одне. Дуже часто у владу ідуть не для того, щоб служити людям, а для того, щоб використовувати її для свого збагачення. І тому така влада буває злочинною. На превеликий жаль, багато таких.
– Ваше святосте, в чому ж воно – щастя людське? Не всі люди вважають себе щасливими?
– По-перше – людина створена для блаженства. Щастя ще не є блаженство. Щастя – це земне поняття, обмежене. А людина створена для більшого. Для блаженства не тимчасового, а вічного. Але людина згрішила і втратила це блаженство, а Син Божий визволив людину від гріха і від смерті й повернув їй те блаженство. І люди блаженствують. Ті, хто єднається з Богом, ті й блаженствують. Єднаються з Богом святі, а грішні ведуть боротьбу з гріхом і в тій боротьбі страждають. Через страждання досягають того блаженства, яке досягли святі.
– Тобто, якщо кажуть: життя – це мить – це не правильно?
– Життя – це не є мить. То атеїсти вчать, що життя – мить. Бог створив людину для того, щоб вона існувала вічно. А вічність людини залежить не від нас. Ми можемо не вірити в це, але людина вічна. Вічна, насамперед, душею. Хочеш чи не хочеш, але з буття вийти не можеш, бо від тебе це не залежить. Але Син Божий спас людину від смерті і тому прийде час, коли всі воскреснуть, і людина, яка вічно існує душею, з’єднається з тілом і буде існувати вічно з тілом воскреслим. Тільки одні будуть з тілом блаженствувати, а інші, хто грішив і не очистився покаянням, страждати.

DO YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY? LOVE SOMEBODY!
We are talking with the Patriarch of Kiev and All Rus’ — Ukraine Filaret (known in the world as Mykhailo Antonovych Denysenko) about the reason to live on the Earth, especially when the life is overshadowed by some troubles, ordeals, suffering. We are looking for the answers to questions.
The first part.
– Your Holiness, it is important to start the conversation with the fact that Ukraine, more than ever before, is close to have its own autocephalous local church. Such a loud statement was made on April 17 by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with leaders of parliamentary factions. I know that you are also striving to create a single local church in Ukraine.
– Creation of a single local Ukrainian church will mean the unification of Ukraine. Nowdays it is divided. And our society is divided. And when there will be one Ukrainian Orthodox Church, there will be different political parties, but all of them will serve the interests of Ukraine. And this will be the merit of the independent Ukrainian church. We do not bring anything new. All churches such as Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Serbian went through this path. All churches without any exception went through it. When the state was forming, an independent church was forming too. We have suffered for a long time, but those churches also have suffered a long while. And the Russian Church itself should remember its history. The Church declared autocephaly in 1448. Without the consent of the Kiev Metropolitan bishop, though it belonged to the Kiev’s Metropolitanate. They declared autocephaly without the consent of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. And it had not been recognized for 141 years. But then it was recognized. Let it recall its history and do not harm us. The Moscow Patriarchate will exist in Russia, and we will have the Ukrainian exarchate of the Russian Church. The union will be peaceful.
– How long does it take to have a single local Ukrainian church?
– You can do it at once, or you can do it through a long struggle. Right now the struggle for a single local Orthodox Church is unfolding. Why do we want to have an independent Orthodox church? It is the desire of every nation to have its own independent church. Does Russia Have Its Independent Church? Yes, they do. Do Greeks have? Yes, they do. Do Bulgarians have? Yes, they do. Do Georgians have? Do Arabs have? Do Serbs have? Do Poles have? All nations have their own independent churches. Why are the Ukrainian people not entitled? It is all because of the Russian church sinning. They are sinning by their pride. And they want to rule on this territory. They want to have a “Russian world” over the peoples. And this is why they are fighting to not allow Ukraine to have its independent church. And this is the reason to wage a fight. But now we can see that the moment when Ukraine will have its Ukrainian Orthodox Church is coming. But on this territory there may be a Russian church, but it won’t be called Ukrainian. Freedom will be for all, as there are freely existing Roman Catholics, Protestants, Greek Catholics, Muslims… Ukrainian church will be one. It will be recognized. And we are going to have it.
– Your holiness, there is a complicated situation in Ukraine now: The War in Donbass… What needs to be done in order to bring peace to Ukraine and to stop people dying?
– In order that there is no war, we must live in peace. Then there will be no war. And in order to live in peace, one must act in right way, according to the laws adopted by people and nations themselves. In order to avoid feud between the nations and war, one must live according to the international laws. If people and nations will live according to international laws, they will not violate them, and then there will be peace. For example, now the war is taking place in the East. Why is this happening? Because the international law was violated. Ukraine has given up its nuclear weapons. Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom have become the guarantors of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The guarantor – Russia has violated this agreement, as a result, attacked Ukraine. And this is a war. What is the reason? It is a violation of international law. It is a defection of justice. The justice is that every nation has its own state and lives on its own territory. And a neighboring state interferes with the internal life of a neighboring state, seize territory. Therefore, the war continues. Everyone understands everything, but not everyone wants to live in truth. Even those who want cannot. Why cannot they? Because they have not strength. For example, you do not need to envy. But a man cannot but envy. No need to condemn. And we condemn. We have no strength. Divine help is needed. And when the Gog helps, then the man does not condemn, and does not envy or wander. Therefore, it becomes holy. For the saints do not envy or condemn.
– The sixth commandment of God is so short: “Do not kill”. But in this war there is own truth on both sides and everyone took up arms…
– The true truth is only one. It cannot be like this: you have your truth, and I have my own. The truth is only one that revealed by God. What to do with it? Fight against sin. Fight with all the shortcomings. For example, saints: why are they holy? Because they fought against it and overcome it. The saints do not have this: mine or yours. The saints have a belief: mine is yours, and yours is mine.
– You have repeatedly noticed that the church prays for the God to give wisdom to our rulers, the wisdom to rule the people, the state…
– Praying for the authorities to carry out their duties. What are the responsibilities of the authorities? Protecting goodness and punishing evil. And if the authorities do not protect the good and do not punish evil, then it does not fulfill its duties. The Apostle Paul said: “There is a reason why the authorities wear a sword. Do not want to be afraid of them – do good things and you will not be afraid that it will wear a sword”. But very often this power does not use this sword to protect the good and to punish evil. There is another thing. Very often people become an authority not because they want to serve people, but to use the power for its own enrichment. And that’s why such a government could be criminal. Unfortunately, there are a lot of these kind.
– Your Holiness, what is people’s happiness? Not all people consider themselves to be happy?
– First of all – a person is created for bliss. Happiness is not bliss yet. Happiness is an earthly notion, limited. And a man is created for the greater things. Not for temporary bliss, but for eternal. But man sinned and lost this bliss, and the Son of God has granted man a relief of sin and of death and has returned to him the bliss. And people are blissful. Those who joins God, are enjoying bliss. The saints join God, and the sinners are fighting the sin and are suffering in that struggle. Through the suffering they reach the bliss that the saints have achieved.
– Then, if it is said: life is an instant – is it wrong?
– Life is not an instant. Atheists are taught that life is a moment. God created a man to exist forever. And the eternity of a person does not depend on us. We may not believe this, but man is eternal. First of all, our soul is eternal. Do you want it or not, but you cannot leave the existence, because it does not depend on you. But the Son of God saved man from death, and therefore there will be the moment when all will be resurrected, and a person who forever exists in the soul, will be united with the body and will exist forever with the body resurrected. Some people will be blessed with the body, and others who have sinned and not purged by confession will suffer.
